Honda Civic Maintenance Minder

The Honda Civic maintenance schedule is determined by the Honda Maintenance Minder. This advanced system uses an on-board computer to monitor the state of your Civic’s engine operations. By keeping track of your vehicle’s temperature, speed, and use, it can alert you when regular services are needed.

The Maintenance Minder codes consist of A service—indicating an oil change—and B service, which covers fluid replacements, vehicle inspections, and more.

There are also numerical codes that indicate the following services are needed:

  • 1—Rotate tires; check tire inflation and condition
  • 2—Replace air cleaner element, dust, and pollen filter; inspect drive belt
  • 3—Replace automatic transmission fluid
  • 4—Replace spark plugs and inspect valve clearance
  • 5—Replace engine coolant
  • 6—Replace rear differential fluid

The Honda Maintenance Minder System will communicate any maintenance needs with these codes. Using these alphabetical and numerical codes, you can stay on top of your Honda Civic’s maintenance needs and keep it running smoothly for years to come.

There are also a few mileage milestones to keep in mind when it comes to your Civic’s service:

Every 7,500 Miles

Your Civic will routinely need service around every 7,500 miles. At this time, your vehicle will likely receive an engine oil change and tire rotation. Fresh oil will help your Civic’s engine stay cool and lubricated, while a tire rotation moves the position of your tires and elongates your tires’ lifespan.

Every 15,000 Miles

Along with a routine oil change and tire rotation services, your Civic will need a few additional services done at 15,000 miles. This includes internal vehicle inspections to make sure everything is running smoothly as well as fluid replacements. Your Maintenance Minder System will alert you if a fluid replacement is needed sooner.

Every 30,000 Miles

Around 30,000 miles, your Honda Civic’s brake pads may begin to wear down. At this milestone, your car will need to have the services listed above performed as well as a brake pad inspection. You may need to have your brake pads replaced or some other brake service done to support your vehicle.
